It all started when…
Funny story - I made my very first set of cornhole boards in 2013 when I lived out in Milwaukee, WI for a summer. It’s a great story because my first set was actually made in my apartment/parking ramp garage. I had started building inside my apartment room until the folks on the floor below me had heard all the power tools running and started pounding on the ceiling for me to stop. Needless to say it wasn’t a great idea anyway because all of the saw dust covering my belongings. So I went out to HomeDepot and picked up some more lumber (which is another funny story in itself because my car at the time was this tiny little VW Jetta that had lumber sticking out every window) and started to build a little cart that would allow me to fill the cart up with tools in my room, roll it down the hallway, into the elevator and down into the parking garage where I would then hop into my car, move it out on to the street, run back up and start working on wood projects inside my little designated parking stall. This had drawbacks as well since the one parking stall next to me sat this beautiful brand new Lexus car (I ended up buying a blower and blowing off the car after each time.. haha sorry person!) Where were we? Oh yeah, cornhole boards, so I finished that set up (I thought they were great at the time but I wouldn’t even pay someone to take them today!).
After that first set I started to get more and more inquires on making other friends and family their own set. I remember the very first set of boards I actually sold (hi Carmen!) and how nervous I was thinking to myself, will they like them? Is the quality and craftsmanship good enough? How many years will they last? Did I make the hole the right size?!
Well, here we are almost 10 years later and busier than ever. We have come a LOOOONG ways from day 1 (its funny how not a single process is the same as it was since that day 1, always trying new things to build better boards #mossboards) and couldn’t have done with without the support from friends and family and the AMAZING cornhole community across the nation, guys like Burly Bags, Moss Boards, Fish Bros, Bobby S to name a few. You fellas have taught me TONS and I am very grateful for how kind you all have been.
